Ask for Salad Dressing and other Condiments on the side

At most restaurants, the salads are literally smothered in salad dressing. Ask for it on the side and only use half of what they give you - that's probably more than enough. Mayonnaise is another culprit that is slathered all over your sandwich. Either substitute it with mustard, or put it on yourself so you can use just a little bit.

One of my favorite things to do is either mix up my own fat free salad dressing at home and take it with me in a small bottle, or a few options at the restaurant: if it is a nice restaurant, they should have balsamic vinegar, which you can splash over your salad and then sprinkle a bit of Splenda and pepper. You can also ask for lemons to squeeze over the salad and again add that Splenda and pepper. And one last idea is to dip your salad in the dressing you get on the side, then dab the extra off onto the plate of salad, so you spread out the little bit you get, rather than pouring it over and getting a little too much!

I always ask for salad dressing on the side. I dip my fork into the dressing, then I poke it into the lettuce, etc., before each bite. Keep doing this. You'll get used to it. I also always ask for mayo on the side, so I can add just a little to my sandwich.
